You may notice by my address that I am required to use the Shorts Road diversion to get to Wingham or Taree, as are many other folk, as a result of the replacement of Little Cedar Party Creek Bridge on Comboyne Road.

The start of the bridge replacement was delayed while an emergency side track was constructed. I mention this as that side track is now under water.
Also there has been no work done on bridge renewal due of course to the wonderful rain we so needed.
My point being, did the council really think this through?
If anyone needed urgent medical attention happened to be inconsiderate enough to need help when the Shorts Road creek was impassable, which has happened, what then? Perhaps a helicopter transfer?
I did ring council to inquire if we had a Bailey Bridge and please, if you haven't heard of it, as mentioned in the Concise Oxford Dictionary, they are used all over the world and nowadays made of a variety of materials.
It was explained to me that council did indeed have a Bailey Bridge, two in fact, but both very old and both needing repair.
Allowing that in our lovely area we have many creeks and bridges that frequently need attention and that road crews are stretched to the limit and beyond, would it not be politic to have at least on Bailey Bridge available.
