The highly competitive championship tests the skills of pilots in forced landings, aerobatics, formation flying and on the spot landings.
Immediately preceding the event will be annual conference of the Royal Federation of Aero Clubs of Australia from April 28 to 29 at the Winning Post Function Centre, Manning Valley Race Club, Taree.
Taree is ideally suited to host the championships with parking space for more than 100 light aircraft on the grass in front of the aero club.
Mrs Kerry Nolan of Old Bar is the current president of the Royal Federation of Aero Clubs of Australia. Mrs Nolan, a former flying instructor, has recently retired from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and her husband Mike is the chief flying instructor of the Manning River Aero Club and also formerly worked with CASA.
Leading aviation speakers will address the conference on issues affecting general aviation and the operation of flying schools.
A mayoral reception for the many guest aviators will be held on Friday, May 1.
