Officers attached to Mid North Coast Highway Patrol detected a BMW 435i coupe travelling east at 161 km/h in the signposted 80km/h zone on Plumbers Lane, Rainbow Beach about 5.30pm on Sunday, January 26.
Officers attempted to stop the car but it continued at speed and a pursuit was initiated.
Police alleged the car continued east and reached speeds of more than 200 km/h over a three minute period.
The pursuit was terminated when police lost sight of the vehicle. However the car was sighted on Boyters Lane a short time later with the alleged driver running across nearby farmland.
The man was then arrested, after returning a positive breath test, and was taken to Kempsey Police Station.
Here the 31-year-old returned a high range breath analysis reading of 0.212.
The man was charged with driving in a dangerous manner in a police pursuit (Skye's Law), exceeding speeds more than 45 km/h and high range PCA.
His licence was suspended and the vehicle was confiscated.
