Letter: Roadside growth - maybe cost cutting has gone too far
In a former life I was a road worker, finished up as team leader at Nabiac. My job before cost cutting and contract type work included cleaning roadside vegetation and drains.

Contractors for the most part do that now, and an ever shrinking amount of that vegetation is cut.
Loved my job, respect those left, but maybe the cost cutting has gone too far?
Fire is travelling from one property to the next in near metre high grass.
It too would, if mowed from fence to fence and harvested, make good fodder for starving drought-stricken cattle and other livestock.
Drains are dry so electric fencing could not be used but several benefits are there if only we put outcomes before costs.
