Old Bar resident and Vinnies Wingham Conference member, Maria Rohr heard LJ Hooker in OId Bar were donating to the Taree Conference, and thought if they could do it, she would try and get Lauders on board for Wingham.
Maria approached the principal of Lauders at Old Bar, Bob Cameron, who was only too happy to get on board.
"I thought Lauders Wingham would like to be part of it as well, seeing as it's their town," Bob said.
Lauders Wingham wholeheartedly agreed.
"It didn't take long for us to get on board," Natt Lowman, sales rep at Lauders Wingham, said.
"It's a great initiative that they're doing, and if we had have known they were doing this earlier, I'm sure we would be onto it earlier. Hopefully next year more businesses can come on board."
Between the two offices they supplied Vinnies with 50 cakes and 50 puds.
"I felt bad about asking for 20, but what we've got is wonderful!" Maria said.
It's just the right amount as Wingham Conference president, Alison Gleeson say they average giving to 47 clients each Christmas.
"For Wingham, we give out vouchers for meat, or for fuel, and fruit and veg," Alison said.
"It's just so much nicer if you're handing someone a card with a $100 voucher when you can give them a pudding and a cake."
St Vincent de Paul regional president Deacon Vince Ryan agreed.
"It's nice to give them something Christmasy. They walk away with a huge smile on their face," he said.
