Water drawn from 'alternative sources'
MidCoast Council said water has been drawn from 'alternative sources' for some road maintenance projects in the area.
In a statement, council said "it wasn't our intention or direction to take water away from other users in our rural community."
"All of our water cart operators will only be using recycled water for our limited maintenance activities and contractors have now been reminded that they are to do the same," the statement read.
Council confirmed all road maintenance teams are using water from the treatment plants wherever practical instead of from the town supply.
"Our regular maintenance program has been suspended where no water is available at all," council said.
