Manning Valley U3A SilverTones choir performs many times throughout the year.
In late October each year, it dedicates itself to fundraising from two performances in the area.
This year $3160 was raised from these performances and the funds donated to the Manning Uniting Church Community Welfare projects.
"We know that the funds we raise go directly to providing much needed practical support in our community," said Pam Archer, the choir's director.
"Over the last five years the Silver Tones has donated in the vicinity of $18,000 to worthwhile community projects including the hospital, women's refuge and palliative care," Pam added.
"We appreciate the community support of our performances which enables us to makes this contribution."
Universities of the Third Age, or U3As as they are more often called, are voluntary, non-profit organisations which aim to offer older people low-cost educational opportunities which operate in a pleasant, supportive social setting.
