While taking photos of barren land and scorched trees, Scott discovered signs and posters with messages of hope and thanks along the Lakes Way and Pacific Highway.
Some of them read 'RFS SES Police thank you' and 'Great work firemen heroes'.
Kindergarten students from Tuncurry Public School all signed a larger poster around the words 'Thank you for being our heroes'.
Other photos in the above gallery look at the aftermath of fires that tore through bushland near Wallabi Point and Saltwater.
With hot conditions expected for the rest of the week, residents are advised to remain vigilant.
