The club made a vocational visit to the factory in Grey Gum Road. The Rotarians visits business operations to learn more about business and industrial activities in Taree.
President Ross Tingle introduced owner of Manning River Steel and Manning Profiling Greg Dickson as well as manager Todd Watkin and profiler Russel Sherman.
Proprietors Greg and Kathy Dickson began Manning River Steel some 20 years ago, trading their business as a "house painter" for a career as a steel supplier to the Manning area.
Greg explained the many activities at Manning Profiling including laser cutting of designs in stainless steel as well as Taree Forster Sheet Metal business.
They now supply just about anything you need to manufacture projects in steel.
The company is managed by Todd Watkin and employs eight people and a contract driver.
Their new computerised laser profile cutting machine is a marvel of modern technology as demonstrated for the Rotary vocational visit.
Operator Russell Sherman simply presents a computer generated design to the machine and it will cut that shape out of steel of various thicknesses from 0.55 to 20mm, including stainless steel and aluminium.
Twenty Rotary members enjoyed a great evening of fun and information and concluded with a pizza meal and drinks.
The club thanked it forest manager member, Mark Drury who arranged to set up the evening in between fighting forest fires in the local district.
