The Macquarie Barracks in Muldoon Street Taree lost part of its roof during strong winds that ripped through the Manning Valley on Thursday afternoon.
Around 3.30pm on Thursday (October 17), the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) Taree City Unit was called out to barracks after reports of the roof blowing off.
Joining forces with Forster Pacific Palms and Wingham units, SES members worked to remove the debris from the partially lifted roof and install tarps.
Crews worked for around six hours to get the roof temporarily secured.
According to Taree City Unit commander Glenn Laycock, a total of 12 members were involved in the job, split between heights work, ground support, material sourcing and delivery, and communication with unit command.
Macquarie Barracks is a training facility for the 317 (City of Taree) Squadron of the Australian Air Force Cadets. It's believed there was no one in the building when the roof came off.
