Andrew's role as leader of business relationships and pathway design in the Aboriginal Learning Circle sees him providing support and creating pathways to employment for Aboriginal people who are studying at TAFE NSW or who would like to.
"My time on The Block was a lot of fun and we put in many hours but I also managed to make a few calls to my TAFE colleagues and making sure the programs I support were rolling along," he said. And it wasn't because he had to, it's because it's his passion.
"I am Australian Aboriginal from Biripi country in beautiful Taree and I feel very strongly about supporting local communities and individuals to achieve their goals.
"These may be goals that people didn't even know were available to them. TAFE NSW designs courses specifically for local communities to give people the real world skills for the job they want. I'm just proud to be part of the team who makes these opportunities available."
TAFE NSW regional general manager Marie Larkings said TAFE NSW recognises the importance of customising study options to equip students with practical skills and work experience they need to pursue employment opportunities.
"We have been very excited to watch Andrew and Deb on The Block and really appreciate Andrew's ongoing commitment to TAFE NSW and in helping us to shine a light on these education opportunities."
TAFE NSW offers more than 1200 courses, from certificates to degrees. Many can be studied online via TAFE Digital, visit www.tafensw.com.au or call 131 601.
