Club members were more than pleasantly surprised at its first full quarterly electricity bill. This is after the installation of solar panels on the roof.
Saturday saw a good attendance for the quarterly general meeting.
The present committee is living up to the expectations of the members, particularly in the financial area of the club matters.
We continue to attract new members, particularly younger people. This of course adds ongoing strength to the club.
Members were reminded that we will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the founding of the club next July. So the thinking caps or on the see how we want to celebrate the milestone.
A considerable amount of discussion followed on several proposed changes to Somerton layout. These are aimed at improving the visual qualities of the members when running their trains.
Glenn Buchman and Gordon Robbie continue their work on replacing the points motors for a more efficient model.
The subject of home visits was raised and is being looked at very carefully for future visits to members' own layouts.
There is also a move to try and make the running days more interesting for all members. There is a proposal to reinstate the Op Sig days that were such a success when tried previously.
President Noel spoke of the need for some "new blood" to help the people organising these days.
The N scalers in the club are continuing there work on major improvements to the N scale layout. Eagerly led by Roy Hancock and Kevin Bambury with support from Greg Spekking and Warwick Williams, they are making dramatic changes to this area.
It appears that they are attracting new devotees to this section of the club.
The next general meeting will be on November 9, with ideas for the Christmas party on top of the list for discussion.
