Ashes tourists Steve Smith, David Warner and Mitchell Starc have also been selected in the team, with fellow tourists Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon rested.
The Blues are looking to continue their improvement after making the Shield final last season, where they lost to Victoria.
Larkin, 29, a top order batsman made his shield debut in 2014. He enjoyed his best season last summer when he made his highest first class score of 175 not out. He also played for Melbourne Stars in the BBL.
He captains Sydney University in the NSW Premier Cricket competition.
