Cordner's Sydney Roosters team-mate, centre Latrell Mitchell from Taree, has retained his place in the centres despite being dropped from the NSW side earlier this year.
Mitchell and Cordner were both members of the Sydney Roosters side that accounted for Canberra 14-8 in a controversial NRL grand final on Sunday night at ANZ Stadium. Mitchell helped set up the try for fullback James Tedesco to break an 8-8 deadlock late in the second half. He also kicked three goals.
Cordner became the first Roosters captain since Arthur Beetson (1974/75) to lead the club to successive premierships. The Roosters are also the first club in 26 years to win back-to-back grand finals.
The Kangaroos will be play New Zealand at WIN Stadium in Wollongong on Friday October 25 and Tonga as part of a triple header at Eden Park in Auckland on Saturday November 2.
The Australian squad is: Josh Addo-Carr, Daly Cherry-Evans, Damien Cook, Boyd Cordner, Nick Cotric, Tyson Frizell, Wade Graham, Payne Haas, Ben Hunt, Luke Keary, David Klemmer, Latrell Mitchell, Cameron Munster, Cameron Murray, Josh Papalii, James Tedesco, Jake Trbojevic, Paul Vaughan, Jack Wighton.
Meanwhile, Holli Wheeler from Old Bar has been selected in the Australian Jillaroos team to meet New Zealand Ferns at Wollongong on October 25.
This will be Wheeler's second test match after she made her debut last year against the Ferns. She was a member of the St George side thumped 30-6 by Briabane in the NRLW grand final on Sunday.
