A woman has faced Port Macquarie Local Court charged with allegedly lighting fires in Taree.

About 1pm on Friday, September 27, officers attached to Manning Great Lakes Police District were called to a bushland reserve near Telopea Drive following reports of a fire.
It is alleged a woman was seen lighting fires and threatened a person who attempted to intervene.
Officers were confronted by the woman who was armed with a knife and continuing to light fires.
OC spray was used on the woman after she failed to comply with officers' directions.
The woman then ran at an officer while still armed with knife and was apprehended after being tasered.
Fire and Rescue Taree extinguished the fires. There was minimal damage to nearby property.
The 28-year-old was arrested and taken to Taree Police Station where she was charged with intentionally lighting fires and being reckless to its spread, damage/destroy property by fire, intimidation, using a weapon to avoid apprehension, possessing a prohibited weapon and breaching bail.
She was refused bail and faced court on Saturday, September 28.
