TAREE High has claimed a third successive NSW Combined High Schools girl's hockey championship with a tense 2-1 win over Westfield Sports High in the final at Moorebank in Sydney on Thursday afternoon.

The scores were locked at 1-1 with 1 minute 30 left on the clock when Lara Watts broke the deadlock with a goal. Taree held out in the time remaining to ensure the trophy stays at Taree High for a further 12 months.
Taree won five games to qualify for the State finals at Moorebank. The side then accounted for Grafton 5-3 in the quarter final and Mulwaree in the semi. This match went down to a drop off before Taree won 3-2.
