Light rain started to fall in the Manning early this morning, with the promise of more to come today and tomorrow. There is a chance of a thunderstorm late this morning.
The Bureau of Meteorology reports that a trough and associated cold front are moving through New South Wales, with the trough deepening into a low off the coast later today. This development will bring rainfall to southern and central parts of the coast and ranges, with some moderate falls likely about central parts of the coast.
Minor flooding may develop along the Myall River.
The bureau says the low should weaken during Wednesday and Thursday as the high becomes dominant over the Tasman Sea, pushing a ridge into New South Wales. Another cold front looks set to arrive on the weekend.
Gale force winds are forecast for our coastline on Tuesday, easing slightly on Wednesday.
A hazardous surf warning is also in place for Tuesday.
NSW Police Force, Marine Area Command advise that:
- People should consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas.
- Rock fishers should avoid coastal rock platforms exposed to the ocean and seek a safe location that is sheltered from the surf.
- Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage.
- Boaters already on the water should carry the appropriate safety equipment and wear a lifejacket.
- Boaters should remember to log on with their local Marine Rescue radio base, via VHF Radio or the Marine Rescue APP, and consider their safety management plan.
