The station will be open from 9am until noon. There will be a barbecue and plenty of information to give out re this bush fire season and making your bush fire plan.
Take the children along to have a look over the fire trucks and equipment. While the children are preoccupied it would be a great opportunity to talk to the members about maybe joining the brigade.
If you are not up to going out and fighting fires there are so many things that volunteers can help with.
This season looks like it is going to be a bit wild and many hands are going to be needed. Our brigade has already been out to several fires.
Do not forget to say thank you to the brigade members for the work they do. We are very lucky to have them.
Colour fun run
What an amazing day the Lansdowne School had with its colour fun run which happened last Thursday in the school grounds.
It was held as a fund raiser and it was very successful raising $2137.20.
The children had the best time and so did the teachers and staff. A number of parents also joined in on the fun.
It is intended that it will now be the major fund raiser for the school.
If there are any parents in our community who will have their children commencing at the Lansdowne School next year could you please contact the school office so that they can be included in their Little Learners Kinder Transition Program that has commenced.
Players' present fairytale romance spoof
The 2019 spring show from the Upper Lansdowne Players is a different sort of comedy from usual, with 10 new players, eight of whom are under 16.
'Half Frozen' by Craig Sodaro is a cheeky spoof on a traditional fairytale romance.
Royal Parents wish to marry their daughter to the prince of a neighbouring kingdom to avoid a war, but the petulant princess Mirabelle was cursed when a spoilt child by a subsequently banished witch. Everything and everyone she touches turns to ice, unless she wears thick gloves, which she hates.
Half the kingdom is now deep freeze storage for Mirabelle's victims.
With upbeat modern dialogue and cheeky attitudes, mobile phones and texting, a mouthy princess, an overconfident suitor, and an advice columnist called in to solve the problem, this is very funny entertainment for audiences from eight to 80.
Director Catherine Watson chose the play specially to cater for eight new young members of the players from home schooling families in Upper Lansdowne, Central Lansdowne and Taree.
Tess, Ivy and Mali Hoadley, Annabelle and Luke Biles, Luke and Matt Wallbridge and To'la Rodriguez-Kenny will all benefit from this theatre experience and hopefully continue.
Mothers Jeneen Biles, as the Queen, and Linda Hoadley as Publicist also got involved.
Another new adult Player Vicky Connell from Harrington joins regulars Vivienne Scott and Richard Coleman in the cast. These players will also offer a different format, as the opening night on Saturday, October 19 will be a fun and informal BYO picnic dinner night, with tickets only $12 and children under five free.
The traditional gourmet three course dinner show ($37.50) will be Saturday, November 2 and there will be three Sunday matinees ($25) with delicious and generous home cooked afternoon teas on October 20 and 27 and November 3.
Held at the Upper Lansdowne's Historic Memorial Hall you can book for tables of eight or individually at www.upperlansdownehall.org.au or phone Sue on 6556 9290. See the Upper Lansdowne Players Facebook page for progress post from Linda.
