The 2019 Saxby's Taree Golf Club championship is wide open after the opening two rounds.
Leading on 149 is reigning title holder Matthew Walz closely followed by Criag Allport (150), Peter Doherty (154), Luke Murray (155), Brad Allan and Darryl March (156).
B-grade leaders are Bryan Schmitzer (164), Neihana Kidwell, Tony McMaster (171), Tim Magin, Mick Cook (172) and Greg Watman (173).
Terry Green (176) leads C-grade from Todd Curtis (178), George Baird, Kyle McMaster (179) and Jim Tippett (183).
On Saturday Paul Knapp was the winner in A-grade with a nett 68 from Bruce Hoad and Luke Murray (69).
Craig Allport's 75 was the best gross score.
Bryan Schmitzer (66) was the best in B-grade from Greg Watman and Scott Provost (69). Geoff Myers (84) was the gross winner.
In C-grade Graeme Pitman (65) was best from Terry Green (69) and Jim Tippett (70). Todd Curtis (86) won the gross.

A total of 37 players in the field of 114 won balls with a score of 74 or better and the nearest to pin winners were R Webber, R Townsend, S Jennings (2), M Parker, A Gourlay, J Weeks, B Schmitzer, B Allan and D Brown.
On Sunday the second round of the championships attracted 78 players in windy conditions probably a little worse than the previous day.
A big thank you to the Taree Veteran Golfers who sponsored the trophies for this day. In A-grade Peter Walz (67), Corey Harper and Brad Allan (70) were the winners with the gross score going to Matthew Walz (72).
Bryan Schmitzer (67) was best in B-grade from Greg Watman and Tony McMaster (69) with Simon Magin (81) the gross winner.
In C-grade Kyle McMaster (66) led Terry Green (67) and Jesse Googh (68). George Baird's 87 was the best gross. Balls were won by 25 players on 72 or better.
The championships continue this weekend.
