As reported earlier in the Times, the NSWRL has agreed to a request from Group Three chairman Wayne Bridge to bring the shield here to acknowledge the fact that the last two NSW captains to win the series in successive seasons, Danny Buderus (2004/05) and Boyd Cordner (2018/19) are products of Group Three football.
Meanwhile matches on Sunday at Wauchope will start at 10.30 with the league tag grand final between minor premiers Port City and Forster-Tuncurry.
Old Bar and Macleay Valley will meet in the under 18.5 match from 11.45 with the reserve grade featuring Wingham and Forster-Tuncurry kicking off at 1pm.
The first grade clash between Macleay Valley and Wauchope will be underway from the traditional time of 3pm.
Macleay last won a first grade grand final in 2014 while Wauchope's last premiership was in 2013.
