"His years of dedication to the business and our community were spoken of which left John short of words," Forster Tuncurry Business Chamber secretary, Maxine Callidine said.
More than 240 members from throughout the Mid Coast region business community attended the awards, held at the Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club on Saturday evening, August 17.
The evening was a night showcasing the brightest stars of the local business community, Maxine said.
She said the mood and positive energy which circulated around the room highlighted the outstanding role of the MidCoast Business Chamber.
Awards were presented to successful businesses winners from all points of the MidCoast Council local government area.
Seniors accommodation provider, Sunrise Supported Living took the top accolade. It was a night of multiple high achievements for the Tuncurry-based retirement village which also received a highly commended in the excellence in business awards, while manager, Nicole McMullen was named the outstanding business leader.
Taree's Stacey Lee Sedlen received two awards, best start-up and runner-up business of the year.
Well known graffiti buster, Ted Bickford from Forster was given a standing ovation when he was presented with a community service award. Ted was overwhelmed and humbled with the recognition.
Major sponsor, Insurance Advisernet representative, Jeremy Thornton congratulated award winners and the chamber.
"We wish them all the best with their future success," Mr Thornton said.
"These nights just keep getting bigger and better," he said.
"To see businesses from across the region take out awards, then network and positively engage as a Mid Coast community shows how business is embracing the change of the past three or four years.
"Times are tough, but our business community in the Mid Coast are searching for innovation and sharing ideas that can draw more to our area."
