Students had between 9am and 3pm on Wednesday, August 21 to complete their street art projects with pastels and chalk.
Visual arts teacher Michelle Pellew said the project gave students a chance to show off their creative talents.
"It gives them a good opportunity to interact with the community and share their art," Michelle said.
"The other kids are really supportive and encourage them throughout the day."
Some students created colourful interpretations of objects while others drew inspiration from pop culture.
In one corner of the quad, Liberty Wares (a mushroom), Hayley Potts (sugar skull), Jada Humphreys (brain) and Alanna Ellem (wings) brought life to their projects.
Alanna's had an extra interactive element, with students invited to stand in front of her artwork to give the project its desired effect.
Sharni Bell's 'Last Scene' was inspired by the television show Adventure Time while Jessica Pike drew Squidward from Spongebob Squarepants.
Kayne Budden crafted the album cover from the Nirvana album In Utero while the band's hit Smells Like Teen Spirit played across the quadrangle.
"Kayne lives and breathes Nirvana," Michelle quipped.
Star Wars fan Ryan McKay created a piece inspired by the movie franchise. His choice of clothing for the day? A Star Wars hat and shirt.
Hollee Denton's unnamed portrait was inspired by a similar piece.
"I added water colours to it," Hollee explained.
The artwork was created on a wall and worked its way onto the footpath.
The assessment doubled as practice for the popular yarn bombing project later this year.
"We hope to do that project either in late October or in November," Michelle said.
In the last two years, the school completed the project on Victoria Street outside of Centrelink. Michelle said it's time for a change-up.
"Yarn bombing is supposed to pop up somewhere unexpected," she said.
"It will be a bit of a surprise this year."
