FORMER World Superbike champion Troy Bayliss will be on a bike of a different sort on Sunday when he contests the PBM Hardrock 6 Hour Mountain Bike race at the Manning-Great Lakes Tip Riders headquarters at Kiwarrak Forest.

Bayliss, originally from Taree, is a keen mountain bike competitor, although this will be his debut in the six hour event here.
This will be the event's fourth year and more than 250 riders will take part. This will include eight -time world champion Jason English, who won the race last year. Luke Brame, who has just returned from representing Australia in cross country events in Canada is another starter along with Michael Harris, winner of the Reef to Reef four day stage last week in North Queensland.
The race is conducted over a timed format of six hours from 9am, with solo or team racers completing as many laps as possible or desired over that time.
On Saturday at 2.30pm, Bourkes Bicycles will conduct a guided ride catering for intermediate cyclists of the Kiwarrak Forest trails.
Riders have nominated from around NSW and Sunday's field will be the biggest in the events history.
