The community, with help from the Coopernook Hotel and the Harrington Lions Club has been fundraising for six months to pay for the unit.
The Coopernook Action Group is proud that the defribrillator is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The unit has been installed on the front of a resident's house at 19 Macquarie Street, Coopernook. Signage has been placed throughout the village so people know where to find it if they need it.
"Our aim is to have it sit there and rust away and fall off the wall - that would be the ultimate," Coopernook Action Group president, Alan Ashcroft said.
Around 20 people turned up for the demonstration held on Monday, August 12.
"There are about 500 people in the town and it was a really cold night, so pro rata it was a good night," Alan said.
