I note with some appreciation our local member Mr Bromhead's stated concerns for the rising electricity prices of pensioners and businesses and his call for the government to take urgent action and stop "fiddling while Rome burns".

However, I note that at no time did Mr Bromhead comment on a significant factor in the rise in electricity charges; that is the privatisation of our 'poles and wires' by the NSW coalition government.
This privatisation was undertaken despite public concern that such privatisation would lead to increase prices as profits will, and are, prioritised over customer welfare.
Mr Bromhead, if you are truly concerned about the rising costs of power for seniors and businesses, how about advocating for strong solar subsidies for such businesses and pensioner households?
As you stated, Rome is burning, and so is Australia with increasing climate driven droughts and bush-fires. Coal has a number of costs, including poor health issues for miners and nearby residents, climate warming, and environmental degradation due to clearing of trees (carbon sinks) and habitats.
