The figure stood at just over $25,000 on Monday. By noon on Tuesday it had risen to $27,000 with some monies still to come in.
While short of last year's record figure of $32,000, officials are ecstatic at the result, particularly considering it was a busy weekend in Taree with numerous major events being held, coupled with a cold day for the challenge match between Taree City and Wingham played at the Jack Neal Oval.
The Bulls have raised nearly $150,000 for Can Assist since the challenge cup was inaugurated in 2014.
Wingham retained the Krystylea Bridge Cup by defeating Taree City 36-10 in first grade.
Wingham's annual charity day will be held on Saturday at the Wingham Sporting Complex in conjunction with the clash against Old Bar. The Asthma Foundation. Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and Buy a Bale will be the beneficiaries.
