One of Australia's foremost experts on camellias, Dr Stephen Utick, is guest speaker at the opening of Taree and District Garden Club's 40th annual Camellia Show, to be held at Club Taree on July 26 and 27.

Dr Utick, from Camellia Ark Australia, is one of Australia's directors for the International Camellia Society and was recently elected as the first chair of that society's Committee for Historic Camellia Conservation.
The official opening of the 40th annual Taree Camellia Show will take place at 11am on Friday, July 26 with a welcome by garden club president, Bob Kelsey.
This will be followed by Dr Utick's presentation which examines initiatives in Australia and internationally to conserve rare and endangered camellia cultivars.
Special guests will include Bill Parker from Camellias R US and George Hoad, president of the Garden Clubs of Australia.
The camellia show regularly displays more than 1000 blooms and the organisers are keen to hear from anyone who would like to exhibit. Contact Carol Coombes on 6552 7145.
