As usual it was held at the clubrooms in Manning Street, Taree and followed by a sausage sizzle, an ever popular event.
The election of officers confirmed the members' support for the incumbent president, treasurer and secretary, in the re-election of president Noel Sawyer, treasurer Gordon Robbie and secretary Glenn Buckman.
Vice presidents Greg Spekking and Kevin Bambury were also re-elected unopposed.
There was however an infusion of new blood in the committee with the election of Kevin Rasmusson and Joe Noyen. Kevin is a member of long standing but Joe is a new and very keen member.
The existing layout committees were returned with the addition of Kevin Rasmusson on the HO layout.
I will continue as public officer and publicity officer.
President Noel spoke at some length on the past year, thanking all members and committee for their ongoing support.
He spoke on the continued membership growth in the club and the very positive attitude of all members.
He went on to mention the enjoyment from other clubs and visits to members' layouts in the last year, also stressing the hope that this trend can be strengthened in the coming year.
Treasurer Gordon presented the club's balance sheet for the last financial year. This confirmed the strong financial standing of the club's affairs. This can be placed down to very careful work by our treasurer. Also the very helpful assistance of member Brian Chambers who is also a qualified accountant and auditor.
Two major financial events for the year were the installation of insulation in the roof and the club took advantage of the government subsidy to install solar panels on the roof. This was seen as a way of combatting the ever increasing cost of electricity.
Members were also reminded that December 2020 will see the 35th anniversary of the founding of the club.
All agreed it would warrant something very special by way of celebration.
As usual the committee and members extend a warm invitation for anyone in the public to come along and have a look at our activities. Taree and District Model Railway Club's clubrooms are located at the old rail freight depot on Manning Street, Taree and open Wednesdays or Saturday between 10am and 4pm.
