WAUCHOPE coach Anthony Boyd reasons a mid-season slump isn't too bad, providing his side has recovered in time for the Group Three Rugby League semi-finals.

The Blues were front runners during the first round, but haven't won a game in the second, with losses to Old Bar and Wingham and draws with Taree City and Port City. Wauchope plays Port Macquarie at Port on Saturday.
The Blues sit in third place with three matches remaining. Boyd agreed they'll need to win at least one of these to seal a spot in the top three. Wauchope plays Port, Macleay and Forster-Tuncurry in the run to the playoffs so there's no gimmes there, particularly as the games against the Sharks and Mustangs will be away from home.
"But I'd like to think we can do better than one win,'' Boyd added.
"We should be able to win at least two.
"We're about due for a win, it's been a few weeks now.''
The Blues have a host of players returning this weekend, led by skipper and centre Beau White, who missed the 20-20 draw with the Breakers last start.
"We're getting close to full strength now,'' Boyd said.
"Last year we got all our injuries at the wrong time, late in the year and that hurt us. This season we've got them early and hopefully we won't get too many more.
"We're looking now to get a bit of continuity going into the semi-finals.''

However, Boyd agreed the Sharks will be desperate. They're currently out of the five and might have to win all their remaining games to claim a finals berth, depending on how other results go.
"It's a bit of a two-way street,'' Boyd said.
"They have to win to keep their season alive and we want to win to stay in the top three.''
