This is an increase of $20,000 from last year. The cup will be run on Sunday August 18, with the two day Taree Cup Carnival starting on Friday August 16.
Racing NSW has announced major prizemoney increases to country racing carnivals right across NSW as a further boost to country racing which will start from August 1 2019.
The Taree Cup Carnival will also feature a $50,000 'Country Magic' race restricted to country-trained horses.
The Port Macquarie Cup will be one of eight feature country cup races with prizemoney of $200,000. Goulburn, Albury, Wellington, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga, Scone and Grafton will be the others. This is an increase of $50,000 for the Port Cup.
The Port Macquarie Cup is run in October.
