Fences were erected along the perimeter on Monday, July 1 to coincide with the first phase of construction for 'Livvi's Place'.
The existing equipment is out of action and will be imminently removed to make way for the new space.
Once completed, the playground will extend from the smaller garden at the River Street end to the war memorial and to the boundary of homes.
