Old Bar woman, Carly Renee Smith has been sentenced to nine years jail on a charge of manslaughter, following an accident on Old Bar Road in January 2018.

The accident claimed the life of 19-year-old Abbey Stephen of Old Bar.
Smith faced Judge C Robison in Port Macquarie District Court on Thursday, June 13.
On the charge of manslaughter, a non-parole period of six years and three months was set, meaning Smith will be eligible for parole on September 12, 2025.
Forty-year-old Smith faced three other charges.
She was sentenced to two months jail for possessing a prohibited drug; fined $300 and disqualified from driving for six months for the offence of drive vehicle illicit drug present in blood (first offence); and sentenced to four months jail and disqualified from driving for five years on the charge of drive with high range PCA (prescribed concentration of alcohol). The jail sentences will be served concurrently.
