A dozen cars set out from the club's usual assembly point at the Tuncurry Rockpool, led off by Kevin and Barbara Jones in their very desirable 1934 Buick Coupe, followed by David Birks and Betty Connery in their equally impressive 1966 Ford Thunderbird.
Flying the 'Aussie' flag Kevin Barnard and Dianne Tipping were along in their very original 1970 HT Holden, with club president Arthur Broadley at the wheel of his faithful 1971 Triumph 2000.
In the European division Cliff Stockley had his trusty 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E out for the run along with Brian and Judy Payne in their 1984 Mercedes-Benz 190E, with club secretary Brian Mills in his favourite 1978 Peugeot 604.
The run was 'event themed' in keeping with our hosts' Mexican inspired lunch which was enjoyed by all, despite a few close calls with the mandatory drooping moustaches sported by several of the amateur gauchos and their spouses.
Proving that 'variety is the spice of life' the club's next event is a winter special, 'Soup Run' down to Violet Hill, on Tuesday, June 25, with a variety of soups being provided by the club. Just bring along your mugs and chairs!
Should you have an interest in older cars and/or motoring generally, why not come along and join us on the day or come along to one of our monthly meetings which are held at the Bellevue Hotel, Tuncurry on the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm. For further information, just call club secretary, Brian Mills on 0427 311 823 during business hours.
