The committee has lined up guest speakers offering a range of topics for participants to enjoy.
Dr Wade King will discuss evidenced based genealogy. This topic will show how to research your family more thoroughly than just taking a family tree off a web site with names that are familiar to those you are researching.
Dr King will also share some interesting tips that hopefully break down brick walls.
Clan Lindsay Chieftain, Susan Cooke, will share some clan history as well advice on sites that are helpful to family historians.
Also speaking will be Joe Lindsay, a DNA expert.
"We are so lucky to have an expert in DNA to share some of his knowledge with us," BWSF committee member Barbara Waters said.
"Today DNA is interesting as a way for a family historian to connect with long lost relatives. Groups such as Find My Past, Ancestry, My Heritage just to name a few all offer DNA testing and when you receive your report it links your 'relatives.'" Barbara added.
Chris Lindseay will discuss heraldry and how heraldry can assist you in your own research.
The genealogy fair and workshop will be held on Thursday May 30 at Wingham Services Club commencing with registration at 9.30am. The workshop will finish at 3pm. Bookings are not necessary.
Manning Wallamba Family History Society and LDS Family History Library (Taree) will be on hand with their data basis to assist and offer research assistance.
