Festivities will be at Club Harrington with officials from State and district attending. The day will start with morning tea followed by a game of bowls and then the official luncheon. Among the special guests attending will be life members Daphne Crossingham, Robyn Spek. Another life member, Heather Steinmetz is unable to attend.
The club was founded on May 5 1959 with 50 members.
The bowing club was formed out of the sand hills of Harrington, with mattocks, rakes and hoes by a committed community. Harrington has won many grades of pennants along with district and State championships.
Dulcie Ford was the first president and 60 years on the current president is Maureen Dart. Members Dot Morton, Heather Steinmetz and Daphne Crossingham, have the wonderful achievement of 50 years as members of the club and Elma Bobeldyk 40 years. The membership currently stands at 105.
The club was built by strong dedicated women over the years, who shared the same interests at heart, bowls being first and strong friendships formed.
"Our club continues to grow from strength to strength, and we look forward to many years of bowls to come,'' a club spokeswoman said.
