Each year as part of Library and Information Week a picture book written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, preschools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
In 2018 more than one million people participated at more than 8000 locations.
This year's special Storytime event will be held in Taree, Wingham, Hallidays Point, Harrington, Forster and Tea Gardens libraries.
"There's nothing we like more than seeing young children fall in love with reading from an early age," Chris Jones, MidCoast Council libraries manager said..
"National Simultaneous Storytime and all our regular storytime events are a great way to introduce and foster a passion for reading in our smallest community members, who are the readers of the future."
There is no need to book for this event, simply turn up to one of the participating libraries on the day from 10.30am to 11.30am.
'Alpacas with Maracas' is written and illustrated by Matt Cosgrove.
