The resourceful steel-hulled boat was used to carry cargo, produce and passengers to various location along the river, such as Wingham, Cundletown, Taree and Tinonee.
Dubbed 'Old Faithful', the boat's first trip transported bricks to build Wingham Public School in 1878.
It also frequently collected produce from farmers and transported them to ships at the Harrington bar.
The paddle steamer ceased operations about 1937 and retired to the foreshore near the Taree CBD. The skeleton of the boat is still there today.
MidCoast Stories' Janine Roberts said the boat is a key component of local history.
"It's a great reminder of the importance of river travel here in the region," she said.
