The Coopernook and Lansdowne Forest Group (CALF) held a camp-out fundraiser at Coopernook State Forest on the weekend of April 27 and 28.
A group of local residents have taken over the 'Foreman's Cottage' at Coopernook State Forest, with the aim to restoring the cottage to its former glory.
Funds raised at the camp-out will assist the CALF group who are carrying out restoration works on the Forestry cabin.
The cottage has been painted professionally on the exterior and solar panels have been added. Some members have painted the interior and the floors have been sanded and coated and bought back to their former glory.
The history of its early days and of the forestry is being documented and will be displayed at a later date. Eventually on completion, The Cottage will be opened as a museum, and a memorial to those hard working forest workers.
