King and Sullivan are close mates and King was the special guest at Wingham's season launch this year. It was here that playing a match with Wingham was first mentioned.
King is one the Sydney Roosters' coaching staff and the Roosters playing St George on Anzac Day freed up his commitments for this Saturday.
"The stars have aligned for this weekend,'' King explained.
"Our game is Thursday and Sully's playing Saturday, so I can get up to Wingham and have a game.''
King's clearance came through last week, paving the way to him playing his first match in three years.
Originally from Casino, King said he has a passion for rugby league in the bush and that's among the reasons he wants to have a run with the Tigers, especially with Sullivan at the helm. He played a game for Orange CYMS when Sullivan was captain-coach there a couple of years back.
"But Sully was out injured that day,'' he added.
"I think the last time we were on the field together was back in 2004 or 2005 when I was at the Storm and Sully was at the Sharks. That was in the old Olympic Park days in Melbourne.''

King played 114 games in the NRL with Melbourne and Souths and a further 106 in the English Super League with Warrington. He made nine appearances for NSW between 2005 and 2007 and represented Australia in 10 test matches. However, he assured he'll be 'a little nervous' when he trots out on Saturday against the Breakers. The Tigers are chasing their first win of the season although King said he isn't answering an SOS from Sullivan to help kick start Wingham's campaign.
"The details were stitched together when I was up there for the season launch,'' he said.
King will be playing in the centres although he isn't sure how many minutes he get through, although he still looks as fit as he was in his playing days.
"I'll do my job but I hope Sully has an extra interchange ready for me,'' he laughed.
"I just hope the supporters enjoy it.''
King lived in Wauchope for a year when he was about 10 and had a season of junior league with the Blues, so he thinks he may have played at Wingham at some stage.
In all likelihood this will be King's only appearance in the black and gold jumper as he doubts he'll be able to slot another game in with his schedule.
"I dare say this will be a one-off,'' he said.
"So hopefully it'll be good fun.''
Meanwhile Port City coach Dan Kemp said the Breakers are looking forward to the clash and playing against King.
"It's outstanding," he told the Port News.
"They did the same thing at Orange and got a crowd down there so hopefully the same happens this weekend.''
