One of Australia's leading prostate cancer specialists, Associate Professor Tom Shakespeare will speak at the Great Lakes Prostate Cancer Support Group meeting later this month.

The meeting will be held at 5.30pm on Tuesday, April 23 at Club Forster.
Professor Shakespeare is the director and senior consultant radiation oncologist at the Mid North Coast Cancer Institute at Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour and the director of Cancer Services for the Northern NSW and Mid North Coast Local Health Districts.
Over the last 10 years he has treated thousands of patients with prostate and breast cancer with a speciality in image-guided intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT).
Professor Shakespeare co-wrote the most recent Cancer Council Australia guidelines for localised and locally advanced prostate cancer.
He is particularly passionate about quality care and patient involvement in decision-making.
The support group invites Great Lakes and Manning residents to attend this information night.
Professor Shakespeare will be addressing new radiation therapy techniques that reduces treatments and side effects of prostate cancer, new development for treating prostate cancer which has spread to lymph glands and bones and new Medicare guidelines.
