Superintendent District Manager Kam Baker was on stage to announced the people who were to receive awards and presenting the awards were Shane Fitzsimmons, the Commissioner of NSW Rural Fire Service, Steven Bromhead Myal Lakes MP and MidCoast Council mayor David West.
Coopernook Rural Fire Brigade deputy captain Joanne Collins received a 20-year long service medal and the captain Sherrie Gaul received her 10 year long service medals, along with 43 other members from the district.
Well done to all and a big thank you to NSW RFS Mid North Coast Team for all their efforts and thank you to the Commissioner of NSW Rural Fire Service, Shane Fitzsimmons.
It is so good to see our local fire brigade members rewarded and acknowledged for the great work they do.
Fishing club outing
The fishing outing was held on this weekend with three members weighing in.
Trevor Henry caught one flathead weighing 0.4kg, Les Gardner caught one bream weighing 0.3kg and Steve Henry caught one bream weighing 0.3kg.
The second outing for April has been moved to Sunday the 14th due to the start of soccer season and will be held at Dunbogan from 9.30am. Names to be put on the list at the club.
The next seafood raffle will be our Easter raffle with the men's bowling club on Thursday, April 18. There will be 25 seafood trays, 17 meat trays, 16 chicken trays and 15 Easter egg prizes. Tickets go on sale from 5pm and the draw will start at 6.30pm. Contact the club on 6556 7280 for further details.
Art competition
Only one week left to get your applications in for the Lansdowne Community Hall's inaugural Art Competition which will be held on May 4 and 5.
There are five sections:
- Junior seven years and under, any subject in any medium.
- Junior 8 to 12 years, any subject in any medium
- Youth 13 to 18 years, any subject in any medium.
- Open Section, local scene (Manning Valley area) in any medium, and
- Open Section, equine subject in any medium.

Market days
The Lansdowne Community Hall committee will be holding its next market days on June 29, August 31 and November 30.
They will also be holding a Melbourne Cup day function at the hall. There will be prizes, good food and lots of fun at their Melbourne Cup day and bookings will be need. They are also looking at holding another evening market later in the year or early next year.
Upper Lansdowne Hall entertainment
There are still some seats available at the Upper Lansdowne Hall this evening Friday, April 12 for their evening entertainment. Mànran are one of the best-known and best-loved Scottish bands on the scene today.
They are a six piece with stomp-along power, top-drawer technical prowess and a wealth of distinctive flourishes, including traditional and original English and Gaelic songs, fiddle, accordion, flute, twinned Scottish and Irish bagpipes and a penchant for funk and reggae grooves. They're playing big events such as The National Folk and Fairbridge festivals.
