Gates opened on Friday (April 5) to a flow of eager high school students from around the region ready to take on the junior cattle competition, as well as primary school students and visitors who wanted to check out what was on offer,
No matter where you went, there was a hive of activity with the Reptile Kingdom providing an informative and exciting show, the Australian Stock Horse events in the show ring, Floral Art Design judging taking place in the pavilion and students parading their beef cattle at the sheds.
Barrington and Stratford public schools accepted an invitation to come by the show on Friday for a self guided walk through the range of stalls, pavilions and activities. Students learned about extracting honey, how water catchment works in the Mid Coast region and got a chance to see if their artwork won a prize.
Saturday's (April 6) program offered an even more jammed packed day, with more horse events in the show ring, including horse jumping and dressage, diary cattle judging in the sheds and the junior showgirl competition.
The grand parade kicked off at 2.30pm, marking the end of official competitions and the start of the afternoon entertainment.
According to Gloucester AH&P secretary, Lorraine Forbes the Aussie FMX freestyle motorcross show was a hit, particularly with the young audience.
"Overall the feedback we received was that people were very happy with the Saturday program," Lorraine explained. "The reptile show was very popular and so was the animal nursery, which is always a favourite."
"The two schools that came by on Friday both said they had a really good time and we were very happy with the crowd across both days."
Gloucester AH&P is looking for community feedback about what people liked and would like to see more of at next year's show; also any suggests for new ideas would be appreciated and can be emailed to secretary@gloucestershow.org.au
