The popular school house event, 'Hot Laps' kickstarted the day of swimming and fun competition at the secondary swimming carnival.
School community relations and marketing manager, Kylie Reed said 'Hot Laps' involved the three school houses of Guyal, Bathu and Wipay.
"For this event, our three houses fight it out to get as many team members from one end of the pool to the other in five minutes," she said.
"This was followed by the usual 50 metre and 100 metre events. All were very hotly contested. It was wonderful to see such high levels of participation in competition in all events - this is a real credit to all who attended. Other highlights included the house dance battles!"
Ms Reed said the winning house at the secondary swimming carnival was Guyal, narrowly defeating Bathu in second, and Wipay in third. During the primary swimming carnival, Bathu set a new record for the most number of points won through races. It was also the winning house on the day.
Twelve secondary students progressed to take part in the zone swimming carnival in Mingara. The event was attended by the nine member schools in the Taree, Hunter and Central Coast Christian Schools Sports Association.
Jasmine Donnellan, Lara Coleman and Julia Skender qualified for the Christian Schools State Swimming Carnival in Homebush.
