Sixteen members were in attendance, including new member, Damian Gow, who was warmly welcomed to the gathering.
The RSL flagpole at the club has been refurbished and the costs incurred kindly covered by the club.
It was reported that Barwalla Day Club celebrated St Patrick's Day on Monday March 18, with a predominant green theme.
Our Welfare Officer, David Allon, continues to visit two veterans in Banyula.
As the result of a notice in the Community Notices of the Manning Great Lakes Extra, senior members of the sub-branch have been interviewed by Channel 7 and the item was aired on Tuesday March 19.
The Old Bar Soldiers' Memorial Hall is undergoing some enhancements which should be completed by Anzac Day.
This will include a rock wall around the northern side of the building and some lights illuminating the cenotaph.
Some preparations have been made for the dawn service at the Soldiers' Memorial Hall and the Anzac service at Club Old Bar.
As previously advised, there will be no Anzac march this year but if the sub-branch can get more support, it is hoped that it can be resurrected in future years.
Preparations for the march are quite involved.
Technology training
Demand for training on computers and smart phones has decreased significantly in recent years, however, the Community Technology Centre at Old Bar can still offer support.
Instead of running coursed for up to ten people, one on one training is now offered.
If you feel you have a need for training on any technology related topic like email, internet or word processing, Facebook, Skype, digital photography or family history, please register your interest at the CTC. We can probably help with mobile phones too.
Android and Apple systems are able to be catered for. Charges are very reasonable.
Ring 6553 6677 to register or call in at the CTC at 5/45 Old Bar Road, opposite Vinnies.
Heartfit classes popular
The Heartfit program continues at Banyula Village every Monday from 4pm.
Heartfit is a gentle exercise program suitable for anyone - regardless of fitness level - delivered by an accredited exercise professional, Michelle Georgiou.
It has attracted a regular following but new participants are always welcome.
Friends from outside the village, men and women, have been attending and now make up the majority of the participants.
You will always be most welcome to join the classes at the centre. Join anytime.
