TAREE'S Malea Magic from the Bob Milligan stable was a close fourth in the $150,000 Country Qualifier for The Championships, won its next start at Newcastle, but it won't be trying to get into the final via the Wild Card race at Muswellbrook on Sunday.

Milligan's son, Glen, said: "If she drew a barrier at Port Macquarie in the Qualifier she could have won it."
The Peter Killen galloper has been dropped off at his farm for a month's spell.
"She is a little filly and we have an opinion of her," Milligan said.
Meanwhile, Taree's hope for the $500,000 Country Final at The Championships on April 6, four-year-old gelding Texas Storm ($2.40) rounded off his preparation for the Milligan stable when running just under a length second to Warwick Farm mare Velocano ($7), trained by Marc Connors and ridden by Rachael Murray, in the Cross Family-Como Dairy Class 2 Handicap over 1250m at the Manning Valley races last Friday.
