By the afternoon of Friday, March 15, the school had raised $4800.
With money from a barbecue and more donations to come in, expect the total to exceed $5000.
This is an incredible result, considering the original target of $2000.
The announcement coincided with the 'big shave' at the school.
In front of an excited audience, students Lara Slade, Ivy Gray, Will Lyons, Michael Ling, Bohdi Styles, Charentaye Lamb, Makyah Cusbert and science teacher Ian Reynolds lost their locks.
Makyah was originally just going to lose his beard but decided to join with his school mates and have his head shaved.
Some tears were shed as hair fell to the hard, cold ground while others couldn't wait for their haircut to go "to the scalp."
The fundraising efforts for science teacher Ian Reynolds meant his hair had to be cut into a style.
So for the next week, it's bald at the front and party at the back as he sports a very outdated mullet.
It wasn't his first foray in the World's Greatest Shave, as many years ago at another school he received a 'Friar Tuck'.
His haircut received the loudest ovation by students as they watched his luscious white hair tumble.
The initiative was a project of the school's SRC.
