About 20 students stood outside of the Davis Street entrance to the school, with signs bearing phrases such as "Change the politics, not the climate" and "We are the change".
One student told Manning River Times the protest was organised on the afternoon of Thursday, March 14 and was promoted on social media to rally support from students.
The protest was part of the School Strike 4 Climate's global strike on March 15.
Dozens of similar protests were scheduled across the country, such as at Port Macquarie's Glasshouse forecourt.
