At this State election, residents need to remember how this Liberal/National government sacked our Greater Taree City Council without warning.
Our mayor Paul Hogan, after serving us with heart and soul, was terminated by a text message. For one year we did not have any democratic representatives. We just had a National Party appointed administrator.
Our State members' once tough stand on forced council amalgamations dissolved as soon as residents in more politically savvy areas of Sydney took them to court.
As rate-payers in the MidCoast Council area, do you see improvements in roadworks and other council services? Do voters from Hawks Nest to Harrington enjoy better communication with their elected representatives? Have we learned to love being branded the Barrington Coast?
While we locals may complain about being taken for granted, we share responsibility if we vote the same party in, every election. To earn respect (and funding) from Macquarie Street, we need to vote strategically. Safe seats are forgotten seats.
Lest we forget.
