Okay, here's our chance to go all Game of Thrones, for we can say without doubt that Winter is Coming. And after the heat of last summer, it can't get here quickly enough.
But what to wear?
This correspondent is known to frequent places to be seen around the area during winter (which is coming, as mentioned) - the Manning and Exchange hotels, the Jack Neal Oval, Old Bar Reserve and of course, the epicentre of high fashion, Wingham Sporting Complex.
So there's no time to waste. We must start working on our winter wardrobe. Actually some of those coats they showcase in Game of Thrones would be a pretty good start - particularly the ones the perpetually perplexed John Whatisface (Snow?) wears.
We mentioned in this space sometime last year that sporting a scarf will be an absolute must for the coming season. We've been scouring the town's elite fashion houses for suitable scarves, but we have to say we've been a bit disappointed with what's on offer at both St Vincent De Paul and the Salvation Army. People, please lift your game, for this is serious. Winter is Coming, as mentioned previously.
We've also been contemplating buying a man bag. We've noticed they seem to be getting more popular the area's high rollers and VIPs.
We're pretty sure Diver Wright popularised the man bag boom around Barrington Coast. He's oft spotted with his state of the art man bag, heading to high profile events usually at Bushland Drive Racecourse. No wonder he has a cult following. So if it's good enough for Diver, it's damn well good enough for this correspondent.
A man bag and scarf would be just the accessories we would need to make an impact at the Wingham Sporting Complex when we go there to cover Tigers Group Three footy games.
Why, we can also see this starting a trend - man bags featuring the Wingham Tigers logo. We can also see man bags and matching trackie dacks being the real fashion statement up Wingham way this year.
Footwear shouldn't present a problem. Call this correspondent old fashioned if you will, but you just can't beat a comfortable pair of slippers. Fear not, slippers never go out of fashion so we'll soon be (literally) dusting off the pair we purchased last year to ready them for the busy social season ahead. Slippers can be worn to any function or any venue and never look out of place. Yes, Winter is Coming (okay, we just like saying that), and what with our Game of Thrones coat (GOTC), scarf, trendy man bag and slippers, we'll be fully prepared.
As we always say Valar Morghulis. (That's Games of Thrones terminology)
