MidCoast Council applied for a grant in 2018 through the NSW government's Fixing Country Bridges program, but were unsuccessful.
The NSW Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey visited the Cedar Party Creek Bridge in Wingham on Monday, March 11 to announce an election promise of $500 million funding for the already existing Fixing Country Bridges program should the Coalition be re-elected to power in the state election on March 23.
Mrs Pavey and Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead said the Fixing Country Bridges program, which council were unsuccessful in applying for last year, would fund the replacement of the bridge and other bridges in the area.
However it is unclear whether this was a firm commitment to fix the bridge, or a commitment to provide funding for which MidCoast Council were invited to apply for.
"As is our normal practice in these circumstances, we are continuing to look for other funding opportunities for the project," a MidCoast Council spokesperson said.
